Hello! I’m Shary, welcome to my page.

I am a multimedia storyteller, artist, producer, and entrepreneur from Costa Rica. I am the CMO and co-founder of Gaia Gives, the first crowdgiving platform to connect donors to their impact. I am also the founder and CEO of Blue Nomads, a travel, event, and retreat company inspired by the values of Costa Rica’s Blue Zone.

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and Integrated Marketing Communications, where I studied Journalism and Art Theory and Practice with concentrations in International Relations, Psychology, and Documentary Filmmaking. Additionally I spent 3 summers at Brown University.

I am passionate about Arts, Culture, Wellness, and Regenerative Practices and consider creative expression and storytelling a vessel of connection. My work aims to amplify stories: I have become well-versed in a variety of mediums including writing, art & design, photography, video, movement arts and audio. I hope to serve as a bridge of communication; to tell those stories that should be told, and to tell them in a way that is accessible and digestible while still preserving their authentic essence.

In the past, I have worked as an editorial intern at Stranger’s Guide, a creative director at STITCH Fashion Magazine and worked in branding, copywriting (with SEO), website, and social media for companies like Ecoversity, Azul Ocean Club, Signature Retreats and Punta Mona Center For Regenerative Design. I also worked in WNUR 89.3 (Chicago Underground Music) covering concerts as a photojournalist, as the producer of the radio’s “Streetbeat” show, and as the DJ and host of a weekly radio show.

I create immersive experiences that celebrate creativity and innovation while maintaining harmony with the environment. I have produced four music and art events, two wellness and personal development retreats, and co-hosted a 300 person weekend festival with workshops and music. These events have featured artists like Rob Garza from Thievery Corporation, Rodrigo Gallardo, Mose, and Sam Garret.

I am also an accredited 200 hour yoga teacher from Yoga Institute Nosara, have a Permaculture Design Certificate, courses in Herbalism and Chinese Medicine, and will graduate as an accredited Health Coach from The Integrative Nutrition School in February 2023. I am native in Spanish and English, fluent in Hebrew, and currently learning French. In my free time, you can find me dancing, traveling, playing with my golden retrievers and searching for vegetarian options in menus.
